PXF pays dividends

Well, I've watched quite a few PXF videos in the past two days and armed with my new knowledge I am taking the $15+1 turbo's on Stars by storm. I've been mostly 8 tabling and as soon as I win/bust I open a new table. This allows me to be playing 8 SNG's at 8 different stages--keeping my on my toes and requiring a lot of focus.

Stay off the $16/$27 tables if you like having $.

Investment

Bought a subscription to PokerXFactor today. It is expensive but honestly I think I can recoup my $$$ within a week without much of a problem. Watching sheets, Bax, and Bel0w play has to help as much as watching GP play has helped KB.

I'll probably spend most of today watching videos and trying to take a few notes.

$22's to the Parthenon?

Well, that's the plan. I hope to pay for my 2 week trip to Athens by playing only $22 SNG's. Total cost of around $2k shouldn't take too long and it will be really nice to be able to not worry about the cost of the trip as some others would have to.

I also need to make a few hundred bucks for spending/drinking money in the Caribbean. I love the idea that I know if I play X number of SNG's I'll almost certainly make $X. It really is equivalent to getting paid more or less by the hour. There will be short-run variance, but over a sample as small as 100 SNG's you really will know where you're at.

Here are my updated stats. I'm only posting the $22 results until I have more $33's to show any actual trends. Too many 3rd's lately so I'll be actively working to correct that disgusting trend. A lot of times getting 3rd/4th feels worse than busting in the first level.

SNG's: 57
ROI: 28%
ITM: 46%

Off and running

Through 24 SNG's my ROI is 64.1% and ITM 49.8%. Obviously a really good start.

I also am considering only doing 100 $22 SNG's and then moving to $33. Assuming I'm profitable I'll move to $55 after 100 or so of those. Basically, playing 500 $22's will be profitable, but not maximizing value.

Hope to play upwards of 50 SNG's tomorrow as I have the whole day off of class.

New challenge

This challenge is completely different than the old one in so much as that I don't set a daily achievement standard nor do I place a time limit on it.

My goal is to play 500 $22 SNG's on PokerStars and maintain an ROI of 20%+. My gorilla math gives the goal a total profit of $2,200. I easily forsee this taking a few months but I honestly believe I can make a solid profit off SNG's. If you check my SharkScope for $22 SNG's it is just over 30% with over 500 played and I know that if I can stay determined and focused I can achieve this goal. Obviously I'm not as "balla" as some of the other Cooler members but I know what I'm good at and I'm not going to force myself to play cash games for awhile. After this batch of 500 I'll most likely play 500 in the $33 or $55 range.

I chose not to play turbos because, simply put, I don't know that I am a winning turbo player. My game is better suited for regular SNG's and PokerStars has the structure that I am most comfortable with. I will miss out on rakeback but I honestly think Star's VPP program is a pretty good compensation.

I'll probably post batches of results here as well as the associated stats. I'd appreciate any input on this goal.

I was originally rooting for OSU, but if Florida is going to come out and completely embarass our bitter rivals, than I can easily say that I am a happy man. Go Chomp-ians! I also made $50 by taking the over on the final total score.

New semester

Well, for the first time in my 3 years at college I don't have class on Fridays--and it is the best thing to happen. Thursdays are now a guaranteed shit-show and I love every minute of it. I also only have 14 hours of class so hopefully I'll be able to spend more of my free time doing what I enjoy--poker, working out, and partying.

On the poker front I'm playing on AP for a change of scenery and to take advantage of their bonuses for the month. I'm playing .5/1 and 1/2 6-max hold 'em and working on really improving my game every time I sit at a table. Before I have been guilty of going through the motions and I hope that is something I can change. I spent a good 90 minutes today going over some HH's from my last session and found some things I would have done differently the second time around.

On a final note, can't believe I am saying this, Go Buckeyes!

Office Reports back for '07

I'm going to try to post here atleast 4 or 5 times a week because I have had some people ask me what happened to my blog. Here is what I've done lately:

I played LHE and was realized I'd rather shave my sack with broken glass than grind out a profit at limit. Unless I'm playing live, I'll avoid LHE.

I played some MTT's 2 nights ago. I went deep in the $3r, the $18k guarantee, and a 180-SNG on Stars, and the $15k guarantee on FTP. I was happy with my play and if I can win some races late I'll be on my way to winning another MTT. I made some profit and was really happy with my ability to play stacks of all sizes during the session.

Tonight I played PLO and a single table of $2/4 NLHE CAP on a bet with a friend that I can't turn $50 into $1k in 7 days. Basically my strategy is to short-buy and shove monsters preflop, get called and win the bet. Obviously one suckout and I'm done but that is the risk I run when making a bet like this. So far the original $50 has became $313 and I have 3 more days. I think I'll play $1/2 or $2/4 CAP tomorrow and try to get it done. PLO is going to be my main focus in '07 and I think I have developed a skill set that will enable me to win $ playing PLO.

I posted some New Year's resolutions on The Cooler. If you're interested you can check them out as well as Tom and Bobby's resolutions for poker.

Cheers to '07.
