Rough day

Today I got set-over-setted twice. In my opinion there is no worse feeling in poker that being ultimately coolered.

Then I get on the right end of a set-over-set and get 1 outered by quads on the river.

Managed a small profit and yesterday I won about 4 buy-ins, so things have been going decently. Obviously the aforementioned pots would have really helped but I've learned to handle beats and coolers about as well as I think I'll ever be able to. I've moved back to full ring games and I'm 10 tabling pretty comfortably with GT+ running.

Taking tomorrow off for some drinking/beach time with some buddies from home up in Caseville.

Getting serious

This summer I have been a model of lazy. I have played very few hands and haven't taken anything seriously. I'm not going to make any money at this pace so today I've rededicated myself. I will be trying to play atleast 4 hours a day.

Time to hit the tables.

Being lazy

I haven't played a whole lot of poker lately. Spent Friday-Sunday in East Lansing hanging out with friends and getting shit-faced. We were even able to have the first bonfires of the summer.

I've been playing pretty poorly lately and tonight I really tried to give it my all. I managed to make some good reads and some really close folds that I believe were correct. I think that a major leak in my game is my tendency to put my game on "auto-pilot" and play hands without giving them much though. Hopefully I can continue to play my A game and have a really productive week poker-wise.

Hope everyone's summer is starting off as well as mine.

Rough Day

Yesterday was one of those days when the cliche line of "Win small pots, lose big ones" applied quite well. I was up 3 buy-ins or so when I lost back to back coinflips for 1/2 stacks and then lost an OESD/Flush draw combo vs. 2 pair in a big pot. Next thing I know I lose a few more small pots and I'm stuck 4 buy-ins. I bounced around a lot and finally finished down less than a buy-in. A very frustrating day to say the least.

When I was in Greece someone asked me what my job was and I reluctantly told them about poker. The 3 people at the table looked at me like I had told them I played scratch off lotto tickets for a living. I guess it is probably better to just keep things to yourself and let my results speak.

Thanks to the shitty weather I'm sure I'll play a ton of hands today. Thanks for stopping by.

Back from Greece, ready for Round 2

Well, I'm back from Greece (trip report/photos coming as soon as I have the energy) and I am officially starting summer #2 as a "pro" poker player. If you read the posts from last April/May on this blog I'm sure they're pretty humorous but, even after a year and moving up in stakes, I still have the same feelings about calling myself a "pro."

Played about 3k hands today at $1/2 and $2/4 6-max. Got set mined in a big 3 way pot where I held AA over KK and 55 preflop and the betting totalled something like 30 BB's preflop and somehow 55 managed to hang around to the flop and drag a 3 way pot. I think I may have ended up half a buy-in or so at $1/2 and nearly break even at $2/4 so it wasn't all that great of a day. It was really nice to have access to a computer again and even better to play poker again.

I am going to add a link to my friend's new blog and I highly suggest everyone read it. He is a big PLO player and has a ton of good insight into HH's already posted. Keep up the good work Jim.

I hope to play a ton of hands tomorrow considering it is supposed to be too windy for golf. I look forward to playing poker all day and having time to blog about my results.

As always, check out The Cooler for ridiculous stories of how KB and ikes are huge ballas.
